We recently had the pleasure of working on a lovely Victorian conservatory in Louth. The conservatory had seen better days, with rotten window supports, beading, and frames that were in desperate need of replacing. As a local business with a lot of experience in joinery, we were happy to take on the job and give this beautiful feature a new lease of life.
Tackling the Rot
The main issue was the rot in the window supports and frames, which had gotten pretty bad over the years. Victorian conservatories are stunning, but when the timber isn’t looked after properly, it can start to decay. Once we inspected the damage, it was clear that we needed to replace the supports, beading, and frames to make the structure safe and sound again.
Custom-Made Replacements
Since the conservatory was an original Victorian design, it was important to make sure any new parts matched the old ones as closely as possible. We specialise in bespoke joinery, so we were able to create custom-made supports and frames that fit perfectly with the style of the conservatory.
We carefully removed the rotten wood and crafted new parts in our workshop. The beading, which holds the glass in place, was also custom-made to match the original design. We made sure everything was a perfect fit so that the new parts would blend in seamlessly with the old structure.
Installation and Finishing Touches
Once the new supports, beading, and frames were ready, we got to work installing them. The end result is a solid, stable conservatory that still keeps its Victorian charm. We used quality materials to make sure the repairs will last for years to come, and the homeowners were really happy with how everything turned out.
